I took the rare opportunity (blessing?) to stay home from church today because Asher has been sick for the last two days. We figure he has some sort of stomach virus because he has vomited two or three times. The poor kid is now petrified of the whole puking experience. He asked yesterday why "stuff" was now coming out of his mouth instead of his "po." (We strongly encourage the use of substitute words in our household for obvious reasons; "po" is the German word for "bum.") Trust me, that was one of those fun parent-child teaching moments that are impossible to prepare for. I just hope that Asher didn't come away with the impression that poop and vomit are one and the same because that is simply gross to think about.
Anyway, I took this video about an hour after church started this morning. (Sorry about the poor quality; we don't have a digital camcorder.) Based on the fluidity of the sweet dance moves, the virus that was plaguing Asher has obviously passed. I guess I could have taken them to church after all. Oh well, there's ALWAYS next week!
As you can see, Asher is doing his best to teach Livy the ways of the force. This life-sized R2-D2 was a gift from Grandma Marcia a few years back. Despite the abuse it takes from regular lightsaber hits, the droid is still ticking. Livy has only recently discovered R2, and there's a good chance that she may be the only one in the family who understand R2's beeps and squeaks because they happen to mirror her own speech patterns. When she kneels down, the two of them are the same height. It really is adorable. Although she prefers pink (Mary's influence), I'm doing my part to keep her well-rounded with a steady dose of boy stuff.

What a cute video!
That's awesome!!!!
Bless his heart...I can understand why Asher was wondering why stuff came shooting out of his mouth. This post made me laugh so hard...uh, not that I am laughing at you or Asher...just because I understand what you mean about not knowing what to answer when questions like that arise. You blogged about the whole experience masterfully!
That is the most adorable little video!! They look so cute! I love how Olivia patted R2 on the head when it was over.
O you guys, what a darling video! Thanks for calling and alerting me to the fact that you'd posted it, Davin. Livy has really got those 'jive moves' down! She's right on the beat---doesn't skip a count!! Natural ability there, I'm thinking. :) Dance classes will be right around the corner. She's good. And of course, Asher is great at running circles around his sister!~
About those out of the blue and off the cuff parent/child conversations...hold on, cuz I promise you there will be many more to come over the years!!!
Thanks again for the video. Dad and I will enjoy re-watching it a lot.
So Cute!
