I understand

Tonight was date night. Dudi just got back in town so I was excited to get to spend an evening with him. We had a quick dinner and then headed to the $1 theater to watch "Twilight." I realize this has been out for a while, but we don't pay full price for any movie. Plus, we had no clue what it was about other than some vampire story that everybody was raving about.

I understand all the fuss now.

I didn't want to read the books first because with the "Harry Potter" series, I read the books, then watched the movies. Therefore I didn't care for the movies too much. So with this one I saw it and now have the itchin' to read 'em.

So I guess I'm jumping on the bandwagon, finally.

Loved the movie.

Peas in a Pod

There is an "up side" when Dudi is out of town-- someone in my family usually comes to keep me company (and sane). This week my sister Kina came with her three cute girls. Asher is always in heaven when they come because he gets to play with his cousin Isabel. They are the best of buds. Plus, an added bonus is that they wear each other out!

My sister also has one around Liv's age. It's nice she has a friend to play with too.

I'm not sure why, by the back fence to the woods is a favorite "toy." Makes for cute pictures at least!

I guess it is just the nature of children to hang on EVERYTHING. I'm just glad it wasn't me (for once)!

Swords and bikes- Could it get any better?

Thankfully it was GORGEOUS outside while they were here and the above pictures show what we did everyday. They left yesterday and then Dudi came home.

It has rained, no poured, since they left.

We miss them.

Dudi's back though, so it's sunny inside.

Pay it Forward Fun

So, a few of my friends/family have been doing this and I thought I'd go ahead and give it a try. I will put a disclaimer that the gift is a gift of my choice. If you don't like it, sorry. I'll try my best to personalize it just for you!

"Here's how it works-the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive, at some point during the year, a gift from me. What it will be and when it will arrive is a total surprise! The catch is that you must participate as well-before you leave your comment here, write up a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. Then come back, let me know you're going to play, and sit back and anticipate the arrival of your gift! Remember that only the first 3 comments will receive a gift from me, so be quick!"

A born speaker

Last Sunday Asher gave his first primary talk. It went something like this...

Asher: In the scriptures...I don't want to do this.

Me (whispering in his ear): Heavenly Father blesses righteous families.

Asher: I don't want to do this.

Once Asher has made up his mind, there is no changing it.

I proceeded to give my three year old's talk, speaking slowly so that at any point he could pipe right in-no such luck.

He did make a smashing come back at the end though.

Me: "In the name of...(I was interrupted at this point)"

Asher: (saying loudly in the microphone) FINE, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I wonder if that counts as my talk for the year?

It must be LOVE

I like to make any holiday a little more fun, but this morning was just like any other, with the exception of a "hearty" breakfast followed by a heart hunt. Then the kids got their valentine's and it was off to a birthday party and a basketball game. It did turn out to be a pretty special day though.

Why I love MY Valentine this Valentine's

Reason #1

Thoughtful gifts= roses, handmade (sorta) card, and an adorable bag I had seen-he is so good to me.

Reason #2
Okay, this is the REAL reason. What my sweet husband is holding is not another gift for me, well, in a way it is. The previous blog mentioned an unwanted guest, here is the follow up. After the exterminator set some traps under our tub ( in the white box pictured below), we felt a little more at ease. Short lived. That very night when we were getting ready for bed we heard a scratching. Okay, I don't know why they use sticky pads-what do you do when it's caught?! Dudi wasn't about to get the trap while the poor mouse was alive, so he opted to wait till the morning. So instead of listening to the squeaking and scratching, we shut the door and returned to the scene in the morning. After building up courage and getting his tools, -"just in case," Dudi did get the trap (mouse still alive) and put it in the shoe box. Yeah! End of story, no more mice!!!

Reason #3

The date. We went to a yummy dinner, then we stopped by a Jewelers -at his request (our 10 year anniversary is not too far of. What girl doesn't love to try on sparkly things?), and then finished off with desert to die for! SO GOOD!!!! He is such a wonderful husband.

I am a lucky, lucky girl.

Unwanted guest

Around 11:30 last night Dudi came in from volleyball. I was laying in bed reading, all nice and cozy. I was listening to him talk about something (you'll see why I can't remember in a moment). Mid sentence he stops and his face drops, "Either that was one huge roach (which aren't too uncommon in these parts-we love the exterminator), or a mouse just ran out from under the bed and is now under the chaise."

Pa-LEASE! A mouse, in my house (slightly Dr. Suessish)? No way.

Me: Okay, lets see the mouse. Lift the chaise up and it'll run out.

Dudi (looking me like I just asked him to do a back flip): Are you crazy?!

Then it happened. I SAW it!! It ran straight from the chaise into the Master Bathroom and let's just say I haven't been the same since. Yes, I realize that a mouse is a tiny creature compared to me, but when you are all cozied up in your bed and a rodent flies across your bedroom floor, then you can tell me how silly I am/am not being.

I can't exactly remember all the things I yelled atDudi to do, basically I wanted him to get it. Dudi put his shoes back on (like that would do any good really, but it somehow does make you feel a little more protected), and headed into the bathroom. Being the brave husband he is, he climbed from countertop to countertop to tub. He scoped it out- found nothin'. We did find the source of the mouse house though- the pocket door.

To say I slept uneasy is to put it mildly. I kept dreaming about mice, then when the kids woke during the night I was afraid I was gonna step on it--ew.

Needless to say, I called the exterminator and he (thankfully) was able to come today!!! Traps are set, now what do we do when we actually catch it?

Donuts for breakfast

Growing up, the kids in my family always loved when mom made donuts for breakfast. She'd used canned biscuits, make a hole in the middle, fry 'em up, and then top them with powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar, and our favorite, chocolate frosting. YUM, I mean, what's not to love about starting your morning off with chocolate frosting!?
So for a special Saturday morning breakfast I made them for the fam. I haven't made them since Micah was little, so it was a real treat for Asher and Liv. I think they thoroughly enjoyed them.
-Liv liked the chocolate frosting. Not the chocolated frosted donuts, just the frosting.
-Micah liked them all.
-Asher was partial to the powdered sugar.
