summer lovin'

Since summertime is SOOOO hot, there have to be some serious perks to endure it! Berries definitely being one of my perks!!! The blackberries are HUGE! The pictures don't do them justice- yum.
They taste even better than they look too!
This is so cool. A gigantic turtle laid eggs (at least 8 that we saw) in the side of our yard!!!! It was so crazy. Then she covered them up and now the neighborhood kids are waiting for a bunch of little turtles.
We finally started a garden!!!! This was a picture before we planted anything, you should see it now!!! It is so exciting, I can't wait to have fresh veggies!
One of my favorite things about summer is cooling off with water. The kids were "helping" Dudi wash the cars and took a break to try and get a drink from the hose!

Birthday boy

This week was Ash's 4th birthday. He is getting so big!

He was really excited about the batman towel he got from Grandma marcia and Grandpa dan.
He had some friends over for cake and ice cream. Of course they played the whole time and I had to remind them to come and eat the cake and ice cream (a sign of a successful party). It was a lot of fun!
Asher wanted two cakes, scooby doo, and ninja turtles. After making them, I started to clean up the kitchen and noticed I had placed them right where the dishwasher was heating the dishes. *Note to self-don't do that! The frosting all melted, it still tasted good though!
What a cute birthday boy. He is such a swee t little guy and such a big helper. Liv and I are gonna be so sad when he goes to school next year! We love our Asher!

Lips on fire!

Earlier this week, Liv came inside after being outside and had some mosquito-like bites on her face (the above pic). We weren't sure what type of bite they were, but they were swelling. Benadryl seemed the obvious answer so we gave her some and she went to bed. The next morning I was mortified.
Her lips were HUGE! She couldn't really talk or hold her pacifier in her mouth. We could make out a "HUUT" (hurt) as she pointed to her mouth while sobbing. Off to the doctors.
She seriously looked like a different kid. At her worst the entire top lip was at least 4 x's the original size. It was awful (sorry Liv). It turns out she had dropped her pacifier when she was outside, a fire ant(s) got on it, she popped it back in and they stung her. The part I can't believe is that she didn't cry when she got bit. I was somewhat worried her lips would never return to normal (I repeat, they were HUGE, the doctor called her the Angelina Jolie baby), but a few days of benadryl and...
viola. She just has some scabs left now. If we can ever get her to stop scratching, they'd go away too!

Our new addition

I have been wanting to get a piano for a reeaaaallly long time. I'm so happy we finally got one.
The only problem is that every time I sit down to play, there are at least 10 other fingers that magically appear on the piano with mine (ahem... the pictured children). I'm hoping the novelty will wear off a little.
Micah starts lessons this week. I'm really excited for him, even though it means I'll have ANOTHER pair of hands to compete with for time on the piano!!!!

Actually, we must know them because we got an invitation, but for the life of us, we can't figure out who they are!!! They are a cute couple and we wish them the best of luck though.

A lullaby

After finishing bedtime stories I asked Asher what song he wanted me to sing to him. Without any hesitation he replied, "Livin' on a Prayer."

What do you say to that? I think he's had too much Rock Band.

And no, I didn't sing it.

Time flies when you're havin' fun!

Last weekend Dudi and headed of town to celebrate our 9 year anniversary!!! I can't believe it has been that long! Craziness!
My parents generously took our children and gave us that much needed time alone. We headed to Atlanta and enjoyed as much of downtown as we could.
Of course we checked out the new aquarium ( I felt a little guilty going without the kids...oh well). They had this awesome Titanic exhibit going on, it was one of my favorite parts.
Dudi's favorite was the Beluga whales. They were huge!


We also went to the "World of Coke" museum. We had fun trying all the drinks from countries around the world. All I can say is Djibouti can keep its drinks! YUCK!
We took a romantic stroll through the Olympic park (okay, so not really romantic. It was like 9 in the morning and we were walking through it to get to the museums).
The below picture will require some explaining. We were so excited to go the the Braves game on Friday night. Dudi had got AWESOME 6th row tickets right next to the dugout. They were so good. We got to the stadium @ 6:30 for a 7:00 game. Five minutes after we sit down, it starts. Not just rain... the heaven's opened up and dumped buckets of water for the next 31/2 hours (look at the pic!). Obviously the sky was black and there was no chance that the rain was going to let up. Did they call it a rain out? No.
We had to wait (or they wouldn't give us make-up tickets) until 9 pm, for them to decide that they weren't going to play--come on, you are wasting my childless time here! There was a bright spot though. We had to get new tickets and the Dodgers are coming (Dudi's favorite team), so we will get another date night to see them. We did have to settle for seats a little higher up though. Oh well... I'm just a little bitter still.
The highlight of the trip for Dudi was this.
Fogo De Chao.
It was yummy (thanks for the recommendation, Leash). He talked about this meal the entire weekend. We'll definitely be going back next time we are in Atlanta.
