weekend wrap-up

This weekend was full.

Asher had a soccer game Friday night.

Olivia had her ballet dress rehearsal Saturday morning.

Micah had a soccer game Saturday morning also, so Liv, Jude, and I headed over to the fields after her rehearsal (more to come later on that!).

After an AWESOME game-Micah scored 2-we headed home to change and then I headed off with the two older boys to the local club team soccer game.  Micah and Asher each had a friend that came with us.  We parked about 2 blocks away and walked to the stadium.  No big deal...unless the sky decides to open up and POUR as soon as you all step out of the car!  It was raining so bad that I decided to put my camera back in the car so it wouldn't get ruined. UGH!  We were all soaked, to say the least, by the time we got to the stadium.  Thankfully our seats were covered even though we were in the second row!

And yes, as soon as we sat down, the rain stopped:) 

We had a great time eating gummibaren(gummy bears) and cheering for our team!

Tonight my two oldest went to bed crying.

We watched Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich

and Barcelona vs. Chelsea.  

Micah is a Real fan (Ronaldo) and Asher is a Barcelona fan (Messi).  

It was the semi-final round.

Both their teams lost.

Sobs were heard, shouts of "I'm never watching soccer again" were said...

their pillows were wet from the tears (I am so serious).  They are passionate about soccer, and they are passionate about their teams.

Better luck next time.

USA! USA! (Genoa, Italy-Day 1)

 One day at the end of January, Dudi and were watching a USA soccer game.  After the game was over, the announcer said the next US friendly game would be held in Genoa, Italy.  I casually said, "I wonder it it is gonna be held in the US or Italy.  We should go if it's in Italy."  Dudi immediately got on the internet and a month later we found ourselves driving through Switzerland on our way to Italy to watch the USA/Italy game.  Our first European family vacation...for a soccer game. :)  And yes, it was awesome!!!!! (WARNING-if you are not a soccer/football fan, this will be a very long, boring post full of meaningless pics)


 It was a late game, so thankfully the kids slept in the car on the drive.

 Our seats could not have been any better.  We were in the USA section, row 5! 

 I don't think the person taking the pic realized Olivia was ours too!

 Tim Howard was awesome! He saved the game.(He's another fav.)

Finaly score was USA 1, Italy 0.  First time USA has beat Italy! Sweet.  It was such a fun way to start our trip. 

 

Another season...

Both the boys played another season of soccer.  Micah moved up in age brackets, now play in the under 11 group.  It was a lot more challenging and so much fun to watch!  He has been really practicing his footwork and it paid off.  He was the high scorer for his team and was in charge of taking all corner and penalty shots.  It has been fun to see him excel and grow over the last few years.  He's a great forward!

Asher's team was undefeated and blew out all their opponents.  He has surprised me. He's so fast, he steals the ball and dribbles down the field, and takes great shots.  It's so different from his first year when he would just stand on the field.  It's cute to see his reaction after he scores.  He had an awesome coach again this year (Dudi), and I'll miss watching all my guys on the soccer field!

A proud mom

For those of you who don't like to read stuff about how some mom thinks her kid is soooo great at___, stop reading this now.

So, here goes.
Micah has been playing soccer for about 8 seasons (spring and fall, 2 seasons a year, just so you're not confused at how an 8 year old could be playing for 8 seasons). He has always done well and has had a great coach that has taught him a lot.  His position has mainly been sweeper and he has always been happy with that.  This year his coach decided that he wanted Micah to play middle.  Now middle is ALL over the field ALL the time.  Micah usually gets tired running a lot, so I was a little worried.
OH My GOODNESS!
He did so awesome. I am not just saying that...seriously.
After watching the world cup with us, something struck a chord and the boy is really good.  He was all over the field, doing footwork that I don't know where it came from, and he ended up being the highest scoring player on his team.
 It is great to see him love something he is doing and excel at it as he puts for the time and effort.  I was sad to see the season end.  That had a great little team.

Dudi and I left almost all the games looking at each other and wondering where this kid came from.

You could say I'm a proud mom.

Way to go Hawks!

Can't get enough of...

TEAM USA!!!!!!!

We are huge soccer fans around here, so we can't get enough of the world cup! We DVR the games during the day and yell, cheer, and cry as we watch them each night. Depression will hit in mid July when the world cup is over, but until then, you'll find us cheering for our team! SO AWESOME!!!

But we had WAY too much of this guy! If you saw the game,

he cheated the USA out of another win which could have held

us back from advancing if we hadn't won last night's nail-biter.

FIFA had enough of him too, cause he got kicked out of the

rest of the world cup after our game.

ARRRRG!

But let's end on a positive note...

I'm all about the USA, BUT if for some horrible reason

they are eliminated, I'll be rooting for...

HIM! Um, I mean, I'll be cheering for Portugal, yeah, Portugal. No, of course Cristiano Ronaldo's looks have nothing to do with that!

GO USA!!!! (It's just a game, right?!!?)

-just a side note, I have worked on trying to fix this layout for the past 45 min. and can't get it. ME + Computer= No hope.

Sorry, but you get the point!

Soccer season 2009

Another season of soccer has wrapped up. I think this is Micah's 5th (or 6th) season (spring and fall) of soccer. He has gotten to be quite the sweeper. He even scored one of his goals while playing that position, which is quite impressive since the sweeper is back protecting the goalie!

This season he even had a few injuries. Dudi tells him that it's a sign he played hard-battle wounds.


One of my favorite things is watching the kids doing activities that they enjoy. Micah really has turned out to be a great player, and it is so fun to cheer for him!


We have been so fortunate to have the same coach and a lot of the same kids for the past 3 seasons. Coach Scott is great with the kids and really knows what he is talking about. It's fun to see all the kids improve and Micah has formed a great little group of friends.
Way to go United!

Soccer wrap-up

We just finished another busy season of soccer. It was Asher's first year playing. He started the season so well! He scored a few goals and seemed to really enjoy it. Then about 1/2 way through the season, he refused to go on the field-maybe it was the jersey color :) (he wasn't thrilled with the purple panthers uniform). If we could persuade him to go out, then he would just stand there while everyone else ran around.

It was kind of painful. I don't know what changed, but I'm relieved the season for him is over. Maybe we will wait a little while longer to put him in anything else. He sure was cute when he did play though!

Micah has gotten so good at soccer. This year he was on the under 9 team-the Storm- and they played full field. His games were really fun to watch and he plays his position so well!
