Tonight Ash had a soccer game.
Now, if you've seen his team this year (which you haven't) they are awful, um... I mean awfully inexperienced.
Let me paint you a picture...
One of them lays on the middle of the field, one cries if anyone touches her and runs off the field, another one tackles all his teammates, and one of them kicks the ball out every time the ball is anywhere near him(there are only 8 on the team). The first time I saw the team I felt so bad for Dudi (he's the coach). I kept thinking of all those underdog sports movies. You know where they have this pathetic little team that they whip into shape and they end up winning the championship game...that's kinda like this team, but we are just hoping to win one game.
So far we have had 3 games. The scores were something like 6-0, 8-0, and *gasp* 9-1!
Yes it is true, we scored our first goal today! And guess who scored it...
My cute little soccer guy! He did a great breakaway and I grabbed my camera just in time! It was awesome and he was so excited! It was like we won the game (only we lost by 8), but hey, we take what we can get.
I was so proud of him. He's done so good this year!
Go Asher!

Those pictures are so fabulous, Mary. I LOVE that close up of Asher's face. He is so cute.
I had to laugh at your description of the team. Bless their cleats. I shouldn't snicker.
Great job, ASHER!!!!!
Everything Mary said about the team is 100% true. I still cry myself to sleep at night, thinking that it is my fault they are so bad. I guess I'm a terrible coach. I feel terrible that I missed the first game that my team scored. I feel even worse that I missed Asher's first soccer goal ever! I'm so proud of him. Out of all the kids on the team, he is the one that has been the most motivated to put the ball in the net. I'm glad it finally happened.
Mary - that first picture of Asher is so awesome. Can you teach me the technique you used to get his eyes to sparkle like that? Did you use the old child-in-the-shadow-facing-the-sunset trick?
